LF356 Supply Voltage Range

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LF356

Hi Team,

The customer is using LF356MX/NOPB. In the data sheet, The "6.3 Recommended Operating Conditions" shows the supply voltage for LM35X is +-15V. And the

value is the max value. But there is not the min value.  The customer has two issues.

Q1: Should LF356MX/NOPB refer to LF35x specifications?

Q2: Can we  only use +/-15 V for the supply voltage? Or below +/-15 V can work normally? For example, +/-12V and +/-5V.  That is if there is the the min supply voltage value for LF356.

Thanks,

Best Regards,

  • Hello Mickey,

These were designed in the early 70's, when most systems were working off ±15V.

    Q1: Yes. LF35x =  Abs Max ±18V (36V), Recommended ±15V (30V).

Q2: The table specifications are for ±15V (30V), but I know it can operate (poorly) down to as low as ±4V (8V). You really don't want to go any lower.

Several graphs show operation down to ±5V (10V), so you should be safe at ±5V. Of course, some specifications will degrade at the lower voltages (BW, Slew, Output Drive).

  • Hi Paul,
    Thanks for your reply.
