Divider IC Selection

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: MPY634, MPY100

Hello,

We are currently using Divider IC MPY100AG in our existing board. But, this IC seems to be Obsolete

Chosen MPY634KP as an alternate

In our circuit, We are going to use the IC MPY634KP as Divider.

In EOL IC MPY100AG, there is an Offset Input VOS. But, this input was not there in the alternate MPY634KP. Will there any effect because of missing VOS in IC MPY634KP ?

Scale Factor : Our Input values  - Numerator value in the range of -10V to 10V & denominator value in the range of 0 to +10V. Also, denominator value is always more comparing to numerator.

Due to this, We left scale factor Input as free (Not connected).

Divider Implementation in our circuit :

Inputs Signals connected to X1 & Z2.

X2, Y1 & Z1 are grounded.

Y2 connected with OUT pin

SF – Not connected

Is this connection valid to use MPY634KP as Divider using above inputs ?

Regards

  • Hello Vinoth,

The MPY100 is obsolete having been introduced over 35 years ago. The MPY634 should prove a suitable electrical replacement for it. To answer your questions:

Likely not, unless the circuit using the MPY100 VOS was being adjusted to a specific voltage other than 0 V. Otherwise, the electrical performance should be very similar between the two devices.

Yes, leave the FS pin open so that the function is set to the internally trimmed 10 V value.

Yes, this is a valid divider function connection for the MPY634.
