Good day, Quick question on two of the TI optoelectronic products, OPT101 and OPT301 (both are photodiodes with included preamp). Proposed application: Mount three photodiode/preamp ICs orthogonal to each other. Place outside such that all three photodiodes are lit by incident sunlight. Measure...

Sean; We also need to know the capacitance of the photodiode and its expected signal current. You will probably need a transimpedance amplifier for your application.

Sean; Your requirements are not going to be trivial--- A photodiode with 40 pF @ -10V will be difficult to deal with if you need much sensitivity from your fast photodetector circuit. A much smaller PIN photodiode will be far easier to deal with than one with an active area of 13 sq mm. Is it possible...

Sean; No optics, eh? Well, we will "endeavour to persevere" as Chief Dan George said. I have attached a circuit that uses a fast current feedback amplifier in a transimpedance amplifier configuration with your 40pF Thor photodiode. I've placed a 5-pole passive L-C low pass filter...

I am using the OPT301 for validating a color sensor design, but i have to characterize the photodiode first with LEDs as source of light and if possible get the same response as the one given on the opt301 datasheet. But while trying to do that i keep on getting inconsistent results. e.g. the response...

Whoa! The fact that the question is about the AD743 and LF357 indicate the questioner knows a thing or two . These two parts are special to the designers of high-performance transimpedance amplifiers, or TIAs as we like to call them. First, the AD743 has a quiet 2.9 nV/rt-Hz of noise (at 10kHz). This...

I am using an OPT301 combination photodiode transimpedance amp to pick up the presence of a fluorescent chemical in a small (<40um) fluid filled channel. The light level from this tiny amount of the chemical is very small and consequently I have been using the OPT301 with an external 10G resistor...
