Part Number: TIDA-00912
I am a MSEE student at UCCS. I need to build a shunt-based current sensor that can handle up to 500 A and output an analog voltage, such that an Arduino could measure it and compute the current from the sensor for an electric vehicle application.I have researched the products that may fit the bill and found that you currently have the TIDA-00912 reference design, which is close to what I need. It states that it can only handle up to 200 A though; why is this? Can I simply raise the shunt resistance to make the current across it lower and measure up to 500 A?If it can only handle 200 A, what solution do you have that can handle more current?Thank you,Bobby
Bobby, shunt resistor and gain of front amplifier needs to be appropriately set to increase the range to 500A. Please download the TINA simulation file from www.ti.com/tool/tida-00912 and work around with it. Read through the design guide for more details.
