LF356: Can we used it inplac of other ?

Part Number: LF356
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TLV316, TLV314

Hi,

One of my friend want to use LF357 8 pin SOIC. Should I suggest them LF356 in place of LF357, because I could not find LF357 in SOIC package.

I go through the datasheet and mark that in most of the case LF356 and LF357 is same.

Please guide me.

Thanks for your support in advance.

  • Hi Vijay,

    the LF357 is much faster compared to the LF356. But if this does not rule out the LF356, you can take the LF356, of course.

  • Hi Vijay,

    There are some big differences between the two devices:

    Slew Rate:
    LF356 = 12V/us
    LF357 = 20V/us

    GBW:
    LF356 = 5MHz
    LF357 = 20MHz

    Do you know what the design requirements are? Can the customer use the TLV314 or TLV316 instead? They will come in SOIC.

    Best,
    Paul

    Hello Vijay,

    Kai and Paul are correct.

    I would also like to point out that the LF357 part is now obsolete. So, unless you have some extra parts around and do not have to use many units, I would recommend you move away from the LF357.

    In that case, Paul and I will be able to help you select a new part.

    Regards,
    Daniel
  • All,

    The LF357 is decompensated, and must be used in a noise gain of 5 or more.

    But other than AC GBW & Slew, it is the same DC wise as the LF355/356.
