XTR305: Cc(Compensation capacitor)

Part Number: XTR305

Hi,

How should we calculate Cc(Compensation capacitor) value?

Best Regards,

Kuramochi

  • Hi Kuramochi,

find the correct value of Cc with the empirical method discussed in section 8.2.2.6 of datasheet.

  • Hi Kuramochi,

The procedure to estimate the compensation capacitor is discussed on section 8.2.2.6.

Is the device used in Current mode or voltage mode?

Essentially, in current output mode, loop compensation is not critical, even for large capacitive loads. However, in voltage output mode, the capacitive load, together with the source impedance and the impedance of the protection circuit, generates additional phase lag. The IA input might also be protected by a low-pass filter that influences phase in the closed loop.  There is an XTR305 TINA model available on the web that could be used to assist/ perform stability analysis for the XTR305.

If you require additional assistance, please provide the complete schematic, including the XTR305 load impedance and source impedance characteristics  and the XTR305 settings (voltage mode or current mode), and we could advise/support.

    Thank you and Regards,

    Luis

  • Hi Kuramochi again,

in a standard application the circuit of figure 40 is recommended. And if an output protection is needed, add the diodes from figure 46.
