TL082: Power sequencing

Part Number: TL082

Hi team,

Could you give me comments on following customer question?

<Customer question>

Q1. What happens if rising Vcc- is slower than Vcc+ rising?

Q2. What happens if Vcc- is 0V, even when Vcc+ is turned on?

Q3. What happens if Vcc- is open, even when Vcc+ is turned on?

Best regards,

Takeshi Sasaki

  • Hi Takeshi,

    nothing bad will happen in the first two cases, provided that the input and output signals of TL082 never (!) violate the absolute maximum ratings given in the datasheet.

    Having the supply pins unconnected (one or both) is an undefined operating condition. It's not recommended to do this.

  • Hello Takeshi-san,

    In addition to Kai's comments. When the total voltage [VCC+] - [VCC-] is below recommended minimum supply voltage or the input common mode is violated, the op amp may provide an incorrect output voltage (phase reversal).
