BUF634: Is there an 8 pin DIP replacement?

Part Number: BUF634

I see the BUF634A available as SOIC, (VSON and HSOIC in preview) per the datasheet.  Is there an 8 pin DIP package in the works.  If not is there an equivalent buffer recommended for new designs?

  • Hello Dennis,

There are currently no plans to release a DIP package for the BUF634A. Currently, the best options would be to switch to a different package or use the following adapter board:

  • Hi Dennis,

the BUF634A offers an ultra high slew rate. That's making power supply decoupling a bit critical. A "big" DIP package would be rather unfortunate in this respect.

    Correct Kai,

The PDIP was sort of abandoned over time due to the much larger bond wire and lead inductances are inconsistent with good high frequency performance -

I did find the OPA633 as another kind of option though. Not much out there at this design point as the PDIP package makes very little sense given the much better smaller packages available today.
