LNA for GPS

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TRF37A73

Does TI have any LNA low noise amplifiers recommended for use in GPS global positioning systems?

  • Does the LNA matching circuit can be drawned by the ADS software?  TI could support the IBIS modle?

  • Hello Ed,

Can you please provide us with some details on the amplifier specifications required:

    1. Is the amplifier Single-Ended or Differential Input? What is the nature of the preceeding stage to this amplifier? (DAC/Other amplifier/ some type of sensor)

2, Will the output need to be single-ended or differential? What is the nature of the stage following this amplifier? (ADC / mixer / etc)

    3. Are there limitations with regards to the power supplies available for powering up the amplifier?

    4. How much gain is needed in the application?

    5. What is the bandwidth and IF of the application?

Once we get these details we can start narrowing down the appropriate amplifier.

  • I don't have those details Samir. It was for a made in house GPS system, under consideration.

The closest thing is the new TRF37x73 gain blocks.  These are general purpose gain
blocks.  The NF is around 3.5 dB so it is not suitable for LNA.
