VCA810 - Datasheet issues

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: VCA810, VCA820

Hi there,

trying to implement the VCA810 in a customer application we found some odd things.

- Page 3: voltage output swing contains two entries with the same text “Vc = -2V, RL = 100Ohm”
-> what is the difference and why?

- Page 5: Input offset current is far beyond reasonable values: 700mA max. (!)
-> it should be magnitudes lower (nA instead of mA ?)

Thanks for a quick answer

 -Bernd

  • Hello Bernd,

I will have to look into this.

Page 3: The default load is 500 Ohms, there are two entries for an RL of 100 Ohms, my guess is that one of them (the larger voltage swing) is at 500 Ohms and the other is 100 Ohms (smaller voltage swing).

Page 5: The input offset current can't possibly be 700mA, so the question is what units are they? I don't know for sure, and I don't want to guess on this one. I am not sure what kind of input stage it has. You may try using the TINA model and see if an input offset current is modeled.

  • Hello Bernd,

For Page 5: I looked at the VCA820 which is in the same family. The input offset current for that amplifier is +-0.5uA typical and +-2.5uA maximum. The VCA810 should be very similar.
