THS7530 NF

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: THS7530

Hi, the "terminated" definition of noise figure (NF) in THS7530 datasheet means that NF is measured with a termination equal to source resistance (50 Ohm) at amplifier input terminals ?  Is it possible to use the device with unterminated input? Which would be the NF in this case?

Thanks, bye

  • Hello Vasco,

The definition of Noise figure requires a source resistance to calculate, it is undefined otherwise.  If you want to know the noise level at the output it may be best to use your signal bandwidth and calculate it based on the noise voltage level (1.1 nV/ rt Hz).

What kind of signal source do you want to use?  How far apart are the signal source and the amplifier?

    Regards,
