Hello, i have a 14-pin SOIC chip and i was wondering if i it is possible to mount the 14-pin IC to a 16-pin SOIC to DIP adapter? cause as of the moment i can't find a 14-pin SOIC to DIP adapter.

Hello Paul,

If the pin-spacing between the 14 and 16 pin device is the same you should be able to use the adapter. Note however that high-speed parts such as the VCA821 are prone to oscillations when socketed due to the extra inductance from the socket and the inability to keep the bypass capacitors close to the power supply pins. (see section 12.1 of the datasheet)

Thank you Samir. So you mean that applying it to a 16-pin adapter is not a problem? and the real problem is that VCA821 will cause oscillations if placed on a breadboard? What do you recommend?

Paul, The best way to evaluate the VCA821 is to purchase one of our unpopulated evaluation modules (EVMs). This one costs only $5 for an unpopulated PCB.
