Unity gain buffer

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BUF602

I am looking for a unity gain buffer that can accurately track 0V-5V rise/fall times of ~3ns and would appreciate any recommendations.

Thank you,

David Graham

  • Hello David,

Do you have a sigle ended signal?  What kind of load are you driving?

5V in 3ns is around 1,600 V/us slew rate and you would need a part with an 8V or higher supply.  The BUF602 looks like it would meet your requirements.

I would recommend a supply configuration of -2V and +8V.

Do you need a fixed gain part?  Several of our current feedback amplifiers could also be set up for a gain of 1.

    Regards,

    Loren

  • Loren,

First, many thanks for your response.

Here is some additional information in response to your comments/questions:
    1. Signal is single ended.
    2. The load will ATE interface to tester resource comprising of a transmission line, a few relays, pogo interface, and tester resource is ‘AC terminated, 50ohms to Vterm’.
    3. I would prefer a gain of 1 since device output is up to 5V and tester resource is limited to max of +7V.

Yes the BUF602 looks like a good solution, one potential concern was the low input impedance of 2kohm or perhaps this is not a concern if AC coupled? The outputs of my device under test are spec'd with output load of only +/-1mA.

I appreciate your thoughts based on this additional feedback.

Again, thank you for your inputs.
