THS3001 max. input current

Genius 12705 points

Hello Team,

please provide the maximum input currents for IN+ and IN-. This is not specified in the data sheet.

Thanks and Best Regards,

Hans

  • Hello Hans,

Under closed loop operation there should be no input current, this is likely why no limit was published.  Amplifier inputs will have diodes to both of the supply rails as well as in between the two inputs.  The maximum differential input voltage is listed as +-6V.

We usually recommend no more than 10mA current into an op amp input.  This is not actual input current flowing into the amplifier. It is a fault current that is flowing through the protection diodes.  These diodes are sized for ESD events, and so have limited capacity to carry a DC current.

Can you give some details on your circuit?  How long is this fault current expected to flow?

    Best Regards,

    Loren
