THS4520 power sequencing

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: THS4520, TINA-TI

Hi,

I am using THS4520 for filtering with +/-2.5V supply. Do I need to take care for power sequencing of +2.5V and -2.5V rails ?

  • Hello Anirudha,
There are no specific restrictions on power supply sequencing. Either one can come on first. Do you have a particular startup sequence in mind that you are concerned about?

  • Hello Anirudha,

It is best for both supplies to become active at the same time.  It is difficult to answer the question of one supply powering on before the other without seeing the entire circuit as well as the power sequence profile.

I would recommend that you download the TINA-TI reference design for the THS4520 and simulate your proposed circuit with the supply sequencing you intend to use.  The best simulation for this is the transient simulation.  You can configure each supply as a step response with independent timing.  You will want to make sure that voltage transients during power up do not violate the amplifier absolute maximum ratings.  You will also want to make sure that any devices connected to the amplifier are not subjected to transients that are beyond their ratings.
