LMH3401 max output power

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LMH3401

Hi team,

here posting this one on behalf of a final customer :

"..I can not figure out from the datasheet if P1dB is for the input or the output of LMH3401 amplifier.

I am also interested to know the absolute maximum Power on the input in a 50-ohm system.

Now it says 10mA per pin in, and is seems very low, about +7dBm in a 50-ohm system.."

Thanks in advance for kind help and best regards

Sergio

  • Hello Sergio,

Is the 50 Ohm load back terminated?  This would mean the total load to the amplifier is 100 Ohms.

The P1dB number is for the output.

The 10mA number is for current into the pins other than the outputs.  Under closed loop operation there is no current into or out of the input pins.

I don't have the P1dB measurement for 50 Ohm load.  For linear operation the performance with 50 Ohm load will be similar for an equivalent power into a 200 Ohm load.  So, from a performance standpoint, the LMH3401 cannot drive much more power into 50 Ohms than into 200.

  • Hi Loren,

ctm seems pretty ok with your comments so far, then I would close the loop here.

He will be back just in case.

    Thx again and BR
