TRF37D73: RF Choke Coil

Part Number: TRF37D73

Hi all

Would you mind if we ask TRF37D73?

Our customer uses TRF37D73 with follows conditions

<Conditions>
-Vcc : 3.3V
-Frequency range : 2.40GHz~2.49GHz

Our customer would like to use RF choke coil which is less than 47uH.
Because our customer could not find the coill which the lowest self-resonant frequency is over 2.5GHz with 100nH.
Is it possible?
And how much is the minimum value of RF choke coil?

We need your help.

Kind regards,

Hirotaka Matsumoto

  • Hi Hirotaka,

    I think it is possible to use RF choke coil which is less than 47uH on the TRF37D73. Higher value of RF choke coil inductor is mainly recommended when the operating frequency on the lower end needs to be less than 50MHz. The customer might want to take a look at this reference design for further reading on this topic:

    It is possible to use an RF choke coil lesser than 100nH for your application and which has a higher self resonant frequency than 2.5GHz. I don't see that there is a limitation on the minimum value of RF choke coil as the frequency care-about is 2.4GHz to 2.49GHz. You could use the 24nH 0603-24NX-L from Coilcraft as the RF choke coil which has a SRF of 2.9 GHz.

    Best Regards,

    Rohit
