OPA2670: Input Vpp at using case of Buffer

Part Number: OPA2670
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: OPA2677

Hi,

My customer think using OPA2670 as below circuit.
Vcc is 12V(single-supply) and Ip is max 500mA.
Q1: Can OPA2670 use as voltage follower?

I think Vpp of output voltage is 9.95V from equation 10.

Q2: Can the above circuit input 9.95V?

Best regards,
Shimizu

  • Hi Shimizu-san,

    To answer your questions:

    1. I don't think that the OPA2670 can be used in voltage follower configuration. This device was primarily targeted for DSL line driver application that takes differential inputs. This means that both the op-amps in OPA2670 device would have to be used together in conjunction, or else you would see degradation in BW and HD performance from what is specified in the datasheet for this device.

Instead, I would recommend on using the OPA2677 as voltage follower where each of its op-amp can be used individually. I believe you should be able to achieve peak current of 500mA max with this part as well.

    2. I don't think using the OPA2677 or even the OPA2670, you can achieve an input of 9.95Vpp. The input common mode voltage range or VICM for the part is mentioned in the datasheet as +/-4.5V or 9Vpp and is attached below.

May I know the Rload that is supposed to be driven by the op-amp?

    Best Regards,

    Rohit
