AFE032 without using TI libraries

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: AFE032

Hello all,

I am looking to implement a simple point to point communication network using the AFE032.

I have the PLC evaluation kit, but it is too locked down to get what we need done. Plus the family of MCUs used do not reach my max operational temp of 150 deg C, (downhole oil and gas).

This operational limit and the locked down FW have prompted us to look into rolling our own FW. We are trying to stay away of the TI libraries, and may well target using an MSP family MCU for this application.

My question is if any one out there has used the AFE032 with out the TI libraries and lived to tell the tale.

Any tips or tricks out there?

Thanks,

-Erik

  • Hello Erik,

I personally do not have experience developing a system with software/firmware other than those in the Texas Instruments PLC libraries. I will let the rest of forum users chime in with their experience on that.

Another resource that you could explore are the MSP430 forum and the C2000 forum; many of the users in those forums have ample experience developing code and might be able to provide additional feedback.

    Best regards,

    Jose

  • Jose,

I think i am going to leave this up to my embedded engineer in this project. I am by no means a programmer, but i could make it work with the pre-configured libraries. Now we are wading out into the unknown(to me at least).

Ill work on the filtering on the I/O side of things, and the other various aspects of the hardware.

    Thanks!
