Hello,
I am developing my own PLC prototip circuit based on SOMPLC eval. board. In TI desing, VAFE is 15 VDC. According to AFE031 datasheet, voltage could de chosen in range 7 to 24 VDC. So my question is what happens when 24 VDC or 15 VDC ?

Hello cihangir.odabas,
If you choose a 24 V supply for the power amplifier, then its output can have a wider swing as indicated in the typical characteristics table, page 5 of the AFE031 datasheet.

Hello Jose,
I am a little bit confused. I could not find any information about output power specifications of the PA block of AFE.
In datasheet first page, there is "Large Output Swing: 12 VPP at 1.5 A at 15V Supply". If we increase the supply voltage and the voltage swing, can we get higher output power?
In page 5, ELECTRICAL CHARACTERISTICS: Power Amplifier (PA) is given for PA_VS = 16 V. How can we calculate real swing for 24V supply?
Thanks for your help
Hello cihangir.odabas,
The swing to the rail depends on the output current delivered (or sinked) by the power amplifier in the AFE031. Please refer to the image below taken from the AFE031 datasheet for the maximum and minimum characteristics.
If you supply the power amplifier with 24 V and it delivers (or sinks) 1.5 A to the load, then the output swing will be able to reach roughly 20 Vpeak-to-peak.
Hope this helps. Best regards,
Jose
