No phase reversal of LMV551

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LMV551

Hello team,

I got a request from my customer, please find the IC that can replace AD8613AKSG.

I think LMV551 could be good choice but I have two concerns, price and performance.

For performance, customer requested No phase reversal feature. That means that there would be no phase reversal when clipping.

LMV551 has this feature? And how about other OP-Amp of TI device?

Is there any Op-Amp that don't have no phase reversal feature?

(If all TI op-amp has this feature, I can select Op-Amp, more cost competitive one.)

Thank you.

  • Hello Chloe,

The LMV551 is of a newer generation where phase reversal prevention was taken into account during design. However, that is still not a guarantee. I am not aware of any inversion issues with the LMV551/2/4 devices.

As long as the inputs are kept within the supplies, it should not invert. But this is very dependent on the application, amount of overdrive applied and at what level the common mode limit is violated (below V-? Above V+?), and temperature.

I would not say "all" op-amps have this "feature". Some datasheets will mention "no reversals", but not all do.

The safest thing is to test the devices, over temperature, in the actual application.

    Regards,
  • Hello Paul,

    Thank you for your comment.

Do we have any OP-Amp that can guarantee "No phase reversal"?

I really need this feature to kick out AD8613AKSG.
