Can I use OPA340 to drive a 1.5MHz sampling frequency ADC

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: OPA340, OPA350, THS4521

I see in the datasheet of OPA340, it is suitable to drive a 100kHz sampling converter. I would like to know whether it could be used in even high speed converter.

How to do the analysis?

Thank!

  • Yun,

You do not specify how many bits ADC you're considering to use but regardless OPA340 most likely will NOT be fast enough to drive 1.5MHz sampling converter; please consider instead OPA350 or THS4521.

  • Hello Marek

Thanks for your feedback. I would like to use it for 12 or 14 bits ADC. Even OPA350 only specify it is suitable for 500kHz sampling. Another reason I don't choose OPA350 because of the Quiescent current is 5.2mA, it is higher than my expectation. Also I see THS4521 is a very high performance Op Amp with dual supply and differential output. While our design is try to use single-ended output. I guess the price for THS4521 is high and it is not cost effective for our project.

Now I am try to drive a 12 bit ADC. The clock is 48MHz. The sampling time is 12.5 clock, and the conversion time is also 12.5 clock. While Cs=5pf. Do you have some suggestion?

    Thanks
