OPA1688 - 130mW in case of 128ohm

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: OPA1688

Hi all

Would you mind if we ask OPA1688?

Our customer would like to make the following condition using OPA1688.
-Load : 128ohm
-Output power : 130mW

Above condition, following values are obtained;
-31.6mArms / 43.5mAp
-Vrms=4.11V, Vp=5.81V, Vpp=11.62V,

As the result, is it possible to use 128ohm with 130mW?

Kind regards,

Hirotaka Matsumoto

  • Hi team

We guess that your team is so busy, however could you give us the reply?

    Kind regards,

  • Hello Matsumoto-san,

The OPA1688 output current specifications show that at temperatures near 125C that the maximum output current is close to +/-45mAp which is near the maximum required output current of 43.5mAp to achieve 130mW into a 128Ohm load.  For temperatures less than 85C, with a supply voltage greater than the required +/-5.81Vp output requirement by at least the limits shown in Figure 9, then the OPA1688 should be able to meet the requirements.  Low distortion performance is based on many application criteria beyond the op amp selection.  For more information on low distortion op amp design, please view the TI Precision Labs videos on op amp distortion.

Thank you very much for your reply!
    OK, we got it.
And, we will refer to TI Precision Labs.
