TLC2274A: Input offset voltage distribution (production)

Part Number: TLC2274A
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: OPA4197

Hi,

I am looking for the input offset voltage distribution (production data) for the TI part TLC2274CD, TLC2274AIDR and TLC2274QIDR i.e. the range ...how may % of parts has 0uV, how many has 500uV and how many has 950uV in actual production. Our ckt is sensitive for 400uV variance..we had 35% failure on TLC2274CD..hence we switched to TLC2274AIDR..now the failure rate is 45%. We thought TLC2274AIDR is better than TLC2274CD, but he results were opposite. Kindly share the data.

Regards

  • Hello Franco,

The TLC2274AIDR is a narrow +/-950 uV bin out of the overall voltage offset distribution, while the TLC2274CD encompasses a wider +/-2500 uV portion of it. The fact that you are seeing about the same fallout for offset greater than +/-400 uV would indicate that both grades are coming from similar distributions.  The distributions will vary over time and with manufacturing lots so what is representative of the offset distribution today, may be different at different times.

It sounds like the real issue is that you need a voltage offset that is less than +/-400 uV. If you could be provided with devices that were assured to have offset less than the maximum you wouldn't have fallout. The practical solution to that problem is to use an op amp that has lower offset and covers all the other requirements of the application. If you are open to considering a different op amp we can provide some suggestions. For example, OPA4197:
