LMC6482: Operating at dual supply+/-3V

Part Number: LMC6482

I operating the LMC6482 in dual supply (+/-3/3VDC) and  I'm trying to understand if the device is capable of operating properly under those conditions.

The spec sheet is unclear how low the dual supply can be. Max Voltage is stated at  16V (Vcc - Vee) but it makes no mention of lowest. The only other value are single supply at +5V (Vcc) and 0V (Vee)

  • Hi Ed,

The LMC6482 datasheet in table 6.3 lists a recommended operating supply voltage of 3 V to 15.5 V. Therefore, if split equal supplies are used this equates to a range of +/-1.5 V to +/-7.75 V.

Just keep in mind when using split supplies that the common-mode voltage and output swing ranges will slide downward as the negative supply rail moves negative from 0 V. For example, if a +6 V single supply was considered these parameters will slide down -3 V when the positive supply is moved downward from +6 V to +3 V, and the negative supply is moved downward from 0 V to -3 V.

Your +/-3 V supplies should be fine for powering the LMC6482.
