OPA211: Shutdown mode OPA211

Part Number: OPA211

Hello,

I would like to know the behavior of OPA211 where OPA is in shutdown mode.
More precisely on the input. What's the state of the inputs when OPA211 is in shutdown mode ? High impedance ?
What's happen when we apply a signal on the inputs , and OPA211 is in shutdown mode? The inputs can be destroyed?

Thanks in advance for your feedback.

  • Hi,

datasheet says, that only the output is disabled. See also figure 41 of datasheet. It clearly shows, that input voltages are present during shutdown. So, the inputs are not destroyed.

  • Hello Sébastien,

An input signal may be present at an OPA211 input when it is switched between the enabled and shutdown modes. Datasheet Figure 41, Turnon and Turnoff Transient, plot provides an example of a signal at the output being interupted and reestablished when the OPA211 is goes into shutdown, and then back to enabled mode.

The OPA211 has input clamping diodes across the inputs (for reverse brekadown protection), and to the internal power supply rails (for ESD protection). The diodes will provide input protection when a signal is present during shutdown mode. The input impedance will remain high unless an input condition is presented where any of the protection diodes become activated.
