Hello,
I am a student at the Ecole de Technologie Superieure in Montreal and I am a member of the Eclipse Solar Vehicle team. We are looking for ways to improve our vehicle and we are hoping that the chip SM72442 can help.
I have a few questions :
- Can the chip be used in a solar vehicle application? (is going underneath a bridge too dark compared to clouds hiding the sun? Would the chip still work well?)
- I have read the specs and saw that the chip in programmable. I'm guessing that we would have to program our own algorithm, is that correct?
- What do we use to program the chip? Is there any special equipment?
Thank you.

Yes it will MPPT is working in any condition
Yes you can program
Programming could be done through I2C

The chip can be programmed through I2C. However there is no EEPROM in the chip. When the IC is reset, the configuration bits need to be re-programmed acording to the desired behavior.
