PGA450Q1EVM NO ECHO

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: PGA450Q1EVM

Hi e2e,

We have a customer that purchased the PGA450Q1EVM.  They are having trouble seeing any echo.  Here are their comments:

While running the software (v 1.38.32) and watching the graph on the EVAL MONITOR tab, clicking “transduce and receive” does not appear to change the signal or do anything. I have provided (see below) a screenshot of the graph but I’m fairly certain it’s just noise. Looking at the signal with a scope I do not see an echo signal coming back, but I suspect that’s because it’s very small and amplified in the micro.

We are wondering if the transducer on the EVM is defective, but wanted to check with you just in case the transducer is fine and there is some setup problem.

Thanks for your help.

  • John,

The signal shown on the eval monitor tab is only updated when you click on the "Start" button.  If you click on "Transducer Drive and Receive", then you can check the echo signal by going to the "FIFO" tab and clicking on the "Export to Excel" button.

The signal currently on the eval monitor tab looks reasonable.  If they test this in a wide open space, then those peaks should go away and it will be easier to see where the test object is.
