The action of TPIC6C596 for momentary power-supply-voltage descent

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPIC6C596, TLC6C598

Hi

Please let me know the action of TPIC6C in the following conditions.

Usually, LED is driven with 5V power supply TPIC6C596.

Power supply voltage descends to 2.7V for 10 ms.
In the meantime, can an output be held without malfunction?

When there is communication from a microprocessor on the same conditions, how is it?

It is satisfactory, if a function is lost in 2.7V and an output is turned off and fixed.

How is it at 3.7V?

somewhere has threshold value voltage -- please let me know.

Thanks.

  • Tomoaki,

What does the power supply voltage refer to? Vcc of the TPIC6C596 or power supply of the load. If you mean the Vcc of the TPIC6C596, you can find there is a range of the Vcc, (MIN 4.5V, MAX 5.5V). Which means normal operation under Vcc below 4.5V is not guaranteed.  I need to check with the threshold value voltage. Please be patient for a while.

  • Hi Anda,

I wrote that the power supply voltage means Vcc.

When the Vcc operated normally, it was written to the datasheet with more than 4V.

However, it also turns out that ON resistance of MOS worsens.

Even if less than 4V, to what extent a register is held and whether if communication is received from a microcomputer by less than 4V, what will happen want to know.

I am going to take the measures etc. which strengthen a capacitor so that it may not fall in less than 4V.
If the action in less than 4V is known, please let me know.

    Thanks,

  • You are correct. From principle, the Rdson will rise as the input voltage becomes lower. And the voltage below 4.5V will not be guaranteed for normal operation. If you need a wider input voltage range, you can try TLC6C598. The voltage range is 3V-5.5V, and TLC6C598 is pin to pin with TPIC6C596. But the current is a little small than TPIC6C596.

    Thanks.
