Failure mode with over the specification of VOUT for LP2951-50-Q1

I would like to confirm the failure mode for output voltage spec out.

In the datasheet page 3, there is Vout specification (4.9 to 5.1V with -40 to 125 degreeC).
About this specification, how is the situation for over 5.1V?
What is broken with out of this specification? what is failure mode?

Beat regards,

  • Hi Atsushi,

There are multiple kinds of failure mode that might leads to Vout higher than 5.1V, if the device is overstressed or use out of its spec. For example

    1. Internal regulation loop is damaged and becomes open loop. Vout=Vin in such case

    2. Vout is short to Vin internally

    3. Bandgap voltage is shift up.
