Transformer TIDA-00151

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TIDA-00151, PGA450Q1EVM, PGA450-Q1

I am working on TIDA-00151 reference design and I would want to know which transformer should I place if I use the Murata MA58MF14-0N.

The PGA450Q1EVM uses a Mitsumi K5-R4 transformer. I have contact Mitsumi company but I have not obtained any response from them. PGA450Q1EVM User's Guide also recommend to use Toko N1342DEA-0008BQE=P3 (shortly, FSDVA) but I couldn't find it among Toko's distributors.

I could get a Toko's coil transformer FSDV series but I don't know which to choose or whether it would be suitable for TIDA-00151 design. Therefore, I would want to know which one would work in the design, since they are different depending on inductance when I thought inductance isvariable in FSDVA. Here there is the datasheet for FSDV series.

Thanks in advance,

  • Claitec,
I am sorry you are having difficulties in reaching Mitsumi. I will make them aware, and ask if there is a better avanue of contacting their sales group.

The Toko FSDVA is relatively new to the market, which is why you may be having trouble finding the part listed on their distributors' websites. We have not used the older FSDV due to its higher frequency range of operation of 0.2∼15MHz, while the new FSDVA operates from 0.04∼2MHz. Recall, the PGA450-Q1 operates from 40∼70kHZ.

As long as your transformer is specified for operation at the appropriate frequency, low mH range of inductance, and allows for a push-pull configuration, the fine-tuning becomes dependant on the transdcuer's equivalent circuit and the value of the tuning capacitor.
