TPS7A6301EVM need to verify the Efficiency of this module or find one with a better one

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS7A6301EVM

Hi, I want to know the efficiency of TPS7A6301EVM.

I want to know specifically 2 versions. 5V fixed and variable.

variable has a chip TPS7A6x01-Q1.

fixed 5v output has a chip TPS7A6350-Q1

I know LDO effic is Vout/Vin x100 but when am going from 12 to 5V am getting 44% efficiency. I just want to make sure am correct and if I can maybe use another LDO board or built one that will give me a better efficiency than just 44%.

Thanks.

  • Hi Jurgen,

Yes, you can Vout/Vin x100% to estimate the LDO efficiency.
However, TPS7A6301-Q1 and TPS7A6350-Q1 are watchdog LDOs, besides the LDO part, there is also watchdog part, which would also consume power.
If you just want to test the efficiency of LDO part, please remove the watchdog related components (resistors) and disable the watchdog.
