TPS7B6950-Q1 thermal resistance

I would like to confimr the thermal resistance for TPS7B6950-Q1.

In the datasheet, it is specified by JESD51-7)2s2p, 2-oz).

Do you have the data for 2 layers (front and back) and 1 layer (front only)?

If there is not it, can you get and provide them?

    No, we don't have that data. The thermal resistance data in the datasheet is obtained according to the the JESD51-7 standard, which defined the PCB specifications.

    If customer need the data for 2 layers (front and back) and 1 layer (front only), we could support, it would take about two weeks to get all the data.

    Please provide the PCB specs: PCB size, PCB material, copper thickness, copper size for the thermal pad and location in the PCB (provide figure to illustrate is prefered), estimated working power and the working ambient temperature.

    I will confirm them to the customer.

    I think they need the comparison of the layers for the substrate. And they need Copper thickness = 1 oz and PCB material (FR-4). So, the PCB size  is the same of 4

    layers(JESD51-7) for 2 layers and 1 layer. The thermal pad location and size is the same of JESD51-7. 

    If the condition is above, can you estimate the thermal resisitance?

    I would submit request to the thermal team, they could provide the data, but it would take about two weeks.

    Which package is customer currently evaluating? Different packages have different thermal performance and required different request. Estimated working power and the working ambient temperature is also required!

  • Dear Jason-san,

    I have confirmed the condition of the customer.

    - working power: 5V, 100mA (input: Battery 9V to 16V --> typ.12V)

    - ambient temperature: -30 to 85 degreeC 

    And the package is SOT-223.

    I think the conditions is too many. So I would like to request 12V --> 5V, 100mA and 25 degreeC (if you can within 2

    weeks, 85 degreeC too).

    I have already submit the thermal analysis request. However, as you know it is thanksgiving holiday these week in US, there would be some delay and please be patient for the data.

    Would you please inform more details about customer's project? What is the target application?
