About the control signal to power on TPS659039

Hi,

On my project, the PMIC TPS659039 is adopted for controlling the power sequence for TI DRA74x. According to the datasheet, to power on this PMIC, only POWERHOLD signal needs to be asserted to high. However, when reviewing the reference design of 3rd party, I see both POWERHOLD and RESET_IN signal needs to be pulled high in turn. Could you tell me whether the RESET_IN signal should be controlled or remain to low on my platform? Thanks.

  • Hello Ken,

Both RESET_IN and POWERHOLD need to be pulled high to turn on the PMIC. RESET_IN is an "On request gating condition" which means that if it is low, then the PMIC will be prevented from turning on. So it should be pulled high to allow the PMIC to turn on.

    Hello Karl,

    Thanks for the information.

Could you let me know the detailed power sequence for powering on/off this PMIC? I don't see the related document on the web.

    Regards,

    Ken

  • Ken,

This info is only available under NDA. Please contact your local applications or sales support and they should be able to provide it. In case you don't know who that is, send me an e-mail and I can help you offline.
