Hello,

I'm currently trying to program a PGA450EVM-S module and it fails during DEVRAM verification. I noticed that the PGA450 came preprogrammed with the uart firmware. Is there any way I can reprogram the device? I have tried supplying 8v to the VPROG pin, that changed the firmware but it still fails during DEVRAM verification. Thank you.

Hi Oluwatoni,

The PGA450-Q1 onboard the EVM-S is already OTP programmed to run the code burned to OTP memory. If you'd like to utilize the DEVRAM programming feature, you will need to use a new (pristine, never programmed) PGA450-Q1 device on the EVM-S. The OTP can only be programmed once; however, if the OTP is programmed once to always run from DEVRAM, then DEVRAM can be reprogrammed indefinitely. This is why DEVRAM is ideal for development/debug purposes, while OTP is for mass-production. OTP was used on the EVM-S as a ready to run out-of-the-box demo.

Thank you for the reply, what firmware is currently on the EVM-S? does it have LIN enabled?

The out-the-box OTP based firmware on the EVM-S is UART only. The firmware is based on the "TIDA-00151 UART Demo Firmware for PGA450-Q1 v2.6 (Rev. C)" (www.ti.com/.../tidcab3) source code project. To use LIN, you will need a pristine PGA450-Q1 device, and program it with the "PGA450Q1EVM Firmware (ZIP3962KB )" LIN source code available at (www.ti.com/.../sldc007).
