More GPIO on DRV8301-LS12?

Hello,

We are trying to scrounge some more GPIO pins on the DRV-8301. I've already grabbed the PWM-DAC1 and PWM-DAC2 pins, but we need 3 more GPIO. I see that J4 is labeled "Optional Encoder". We don't need an encoder for our project - so are any of these pins re-mappable as GPIO? Any other ideas for GPIO remapping?

You're using a kit from TI right? (not a custom board w. DRV3201..) If so which kit & specifically which control card is in the kit?

Sorry never mind I see you put DRV8301-LS12 in the title.

So I'm going to assume you're using the LS1227 control card.

You can find the schematics for this card in C:\ti\Hercules\MotorWare\v1.0.3.03\sw\boards\control\tmdx570ls12cncd

(assuming the standard motorware install folder, if you installed elsewhere just change the first part of the path to point to the Hercules motorware...)

And from this you can figure out which pins go to the header you want to repurpose.

Hi Chuck,
What's about using J12 (gpio 28/29) and there is J23/J24 (two user push buttons - remove or don't push them!! and .. there is 0.1 uF caps, maybe worth to remove them) and you could use the user LEDs for output. J4 has an 5V/3.3V level shifter, it can be used as three inputs if you have 5V signals.
