TPS61165 split-power circuit

I am considering using the TPS61165 in a circuit where VIN and the LED supply would be separate - I have 5V that would power the VIN pin, but a different, higher-power rail that would power the LEDs. It looks like this will be OK but I don't see any references to this particular configuration.

David,

There is no problem to power the device using two different supply, because VIN pin is used to provide the power for internal control circuit, 5V supply will be ok.

Hi David,

This should be fine. But just make sure not to pull CTRL high to turn on TPS61165 until both supply rails to Vin and Inductor are ready.
