PGA411-Q1: Problem reading angles and velocities from a 3-pole resolver

Hi!

I am trying to interface a PGA411-Q1 to a 3-pole resolver via the PGA411-Q1 EVM development board.

The problem is, that whatever values I set in the DEV_CONFIG1 / NPLE register, I always read a velocity that is three  times too high, and when I move the resolver through 360°, I get three cycles of 0-359°, instead of just one.

Why is the PGA411 seemingly ignoring the NPLE register?

    The NPLE register only affects the commutation encoder outputs (OUTU, OUTV, OUW, etc.). Also, it acts as a pole multiplier, not as a corrector for using a multi-pole resolver.

    This is expected behavior, so you will need to account for it in your software. Please let me know if you have any other questions.
