Dear Sirs, My name is Daniel Sofer, and I am a newcomer to the forum. I am head of development at DSA, a technology firm in Brazil, specializing in developing alternative fuel engine management systems. As part of a work in progress, we need to implement a very careful knock sensing sub-system...

    David, Sorry we dropped the ball on this one. Here is my feedback, this device is new to me and I had to dig up the information. 1) How is D9:D8 laid out? Left-to-right? right-to-left? right-justified? left-justified? You are correct. Byte 2: [ D9 D8 0 0 0 0 0 0 ] Byte 1: [ D7 D6 D5 D4...

Bob, Thanks for the reminder, and my apologies for the delay. I've been looking at the part some more, and initially it looks like the limit is essentially how long it takes to transmit the necessary information over SPI. I'm planning on taking this to the lab and running some experiments myself...

Bob, It doesn't look like the minimum hold time will impact you too much. I don't start seeing problems until reaching a hold time of less than 10us. Below this point, the hold state isn't always recognized by the TPIC8101, and so it continues to integrate. Will this minimum hold time work...

I am working on a replacement for a legacy knock system. For it I need the flexibility available in the TPIC1801. I do however have some questions: 1. How quickly can the integration cycles occur and what is a reasonable max integration cycle? i.e how quickly after a int to hold transition can the...

Garrett, The math for the system transfer equation is worked out on pages 13-14 of the training pdf, and the math model follows the example at the end of the pdf. If you post your Simulink model, I'll take a quick look at it. The integrator doesn't do any special peak extraction, but the transfer...
