Hello,

I'm using the AFE4490 in reflective pulse oximetry. As you are aware, and as my own tests have confirmed, reflective pulse oximetry produces different results depending on how much pressure you put on the sensor, where on your body you place the sensor, or even the bodies of different test subjects.


I was wondering then if it's theoretically possible to design a reflective pulse oximeter that can utilize different configurations on the AFE4490 based on the above parameters. For example, if my program detects that there is a lot of noise from the photodiode, then it can load a different set of configurations on AFE4490 registers. Would something like that require a power cycle? Would it even be possible?

    Hello Mohammad,

    Applying different set of configurations on AFE4490 registers would not require a power cycle.

    But after changing the registers, sufficient wait time must be provided to allow the dynamics of the signal propagate through the signal chain.
