Chronos Smart Watch Development

We are using chronos 915 to develop a healthcare smart watch. We need to add 2 sensors a skin Temp and a continuous BP sensor. What would be the best sensors offered by TI for Temp and BP?

  • Hello Mike,

Follow the link to get to know the sensor offered by TI for temperature and blood pressure.

  • Thanks for the response. What we are looking for is a sensor  to read blood pressure continuously. The old sensors used a cuff.

BP the old way  from TI - not continuous readings

Blood pressure monitors can use Korotkoff, Oscillometry, or Pulse Transit Time methods to measure blood pressure. They employ a pressure cuff, pump, and transducer to measure blood pressure and heart rate in three phases: Inflation, Measurement, and Deflation. They include an LCD, selection buttons, memory recall, power management, and USB interface.

Continuous readings 24/7 and monitored. Data sent to the cloud in real time for analytics.

The new technology use Arterial Tonometry for Blood Pressure Measurement.  Arterial tonometry is a technique for blood pressure measurement in which an array of pressure sensors is pressed against the skin over an artery. I guess that  TI does not have one yet. If they do then that is the reference I need. The few companies that have them do not want to sell just the sensor. Then there is the algorithms needed to go with them.

SRI engineers have developed minimally invasive arterial tonometry for hospital applications. The technology is available for license. This is for hospitals not a watch.

BPro® incorporated a patented technology termed as Modified Applanation Tonometry. This technology is coined as EVBP® technology. EVBP® stands for Evidence-Based Blood Pressure. Tonometry was first used for the measurement of pressure in the eyeballs. HealthSTATS BPro®ABPM device implements the measurement at the radial artery of the wrist. (see illustration below)). They would not respond either.

  • Dear Mike,

Unfortunately we do not have any information related to this kind of technology. Chronos watch was design with other requirements/needs in mind.

Y can certainly use the following reference designs as a good starting point.

  • I am using the Chronos development platform. Is there a way to add or connect an expansion board so I can add and test 3 extra sensors?

  • Unfortunately, Chronos was not design for expandability or flexibility. It is a closed HW design.

    Here is another alternative http://www.svtronics.com/AFE4403-HREVM
