HRM EVM + Health Hub Useage over BLE

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: AFE4403, AFE4400, AFE4403EVM

Hi there,

On page 9 () it suggests that we can connect to the EVM watch (presumably, the AFE4403-HREVM) , but clearly there is no BLE connectivity with this EVM. How are we expected to connect to this watch? Is there sample firmware available? Why is the demo which is clearly documented not easy to perform?

Thank you,

Saf

  • Hello Saf,

The objective of the AFE4403-HREVM watch was to enable customers to evaluate the AFE4403 analog front end and perform PPG data acquisition in a watch form factor design. The out-of-the-box experience for the AFE4403-HREVM watch was to use the PC based GUI (http://www.ti.com/lit/zip/slac672) for evaluating the AFE. The users guide for the AFE4403-HREVM watch can be accessed from this link (http://svtronics.com/index.php?route=product/download&product_document_id=269&product_id=58).
The AFE4403-HREVM watch has the capability to record and transmit data wirelessly using BLE but the firmware that the watch is shipped with does not support these features.

The HealthHub software is an internal demonstration tool that is not publicly available. As the HRM reference design document (http://www.ti.com/lit/ug/tidu125/tidu125.pdf) pointed out, we used the tool to validate and verify the performance of the AFE4400 based HRM wrist watch. The HealthHub software cannot be used to evaluate the AFE4403-HREVM since the AFE4403-HREVM and AFE4400 based wrist watch are using different BLE profiles.

Support for data logging using on-board Flash memory and BLE connectivity is provided based on business needs and interests.

We will get in touch with you to find out more details about your organization, the product you are working on, the application etc.
  • I was wondering if the firmware which is shipped with the watch is open source or not? I am curious about the algorithm which is used to compensate the impact of motions (obtained by motion sensors). I also cannot find the schematic/pcb files of the watch. Thanks
  • Hi Praveen,

Thanks. That's too bad that we can't use the HealthHub software with the evaluation watch. It would help for prototyping and evaluation.

We also need the evaluation kit but it is out of stock right now - can you please help us get one?? We are on a tight development schedule. http://www.digikey.com/product-search/en/programmers-development-systems/evaluation-and-demonstration-boards-and-kits/2622039?k=AFE4403

    Best regards,

  • Hello Saf,

Since the AFE4403EVM is currently out of stock, we are working on shipping the AFE4403EVM kit ASAP to you.
Could you let me know if you have already placed an order for the EVM either at TI estore or at any distributor site?

  • Hi Praveen,

We tried ordering but it was out-of-stock. We looked on digikey, amongst other places. Please let me know what I can do to get it.

  • Taking the conversation offline.
  • Hi Praveen,

I have query on similar lines. The page for TIDA-00011 (www.ti.com/.../TIDA-00011) is very confusing. It says that the reference design use AFE4400 but in the 'Order Now' section link is given for AFE4403-HREVM. As you mentioned in this conversation that TI health hub demonstration doesn't work for AFE4403-HREVM.

Which EVM should we buy to use Heath Hub demonstration?

  • Yatin,

Unfortunately, the Health Hub demos are not for sale.
