Greetings All,
We have begun using our new AFE4490 SpO2 evaluation board. Our ultimate goal is to design a system using the AFE3390 and the MPS430 to acquire pulse waves to be analyzed by our own GUI application. So far, we've successfully installed the TI GUI software, updated the EVM firmware from v1.2 to v1.3, and used the GUI to acquire beautiful pulse wave data, both in the software, and in the Excel data files saved by the GUI software. At this point (and after searching through a lot of TI documentation!), please help us with a few questions.
1. We would like to power the EVM board with a battery, using the USB only for the interface to the host computer. Is there any data sheet or specification document that defines the parameters of the power to be connected at J5? Voltage and current ranges? Is there a way to set the system to use the battery and not the USB power?
2. We do have a document that defines about a half dozen commands, "Message Communication Protocol for AFE4400 / AFE4490 EVM." The file is "6305.Message Communication Protocol v3.0 - AFE44x0EVM.pdf." Is there any more documentation about interfacing to the EVM?
3. Of course, as soon as possible, we will want to begin customizing the firmware in the MSP430. We do have the source for the existing v1.3 firmware, but we're wondering what is the best way to open a project (in any compiler that supports the MSP430) and begin by modifying the existing source?
If anyone could point out any documents we've overlooked, or has any kind suggestions, we would be *very* thankful. And sorry for such a long post!
All the best,
