TMS570LS3137-EP: TMS570LS3137-EP LOW EMI Buffer

Part Number: TMS570LS3137-EP
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TMS570LS3137

Hi,

Whether Low EMI output buffers are available for SPI-2 and SPI-4 in TMS570LS3137-EP?

I have referred SPNU499B, as per Table 2-52 bit[1] and bit[3] of GPREG1 can be used to set Low EMI buffers for SPI-2 and SPI-4 respectively.

As per datasheet TMS570LS3137, Table 3-7, bit[1] of GPREG1 is for SPI-2 and bit[3] is reserved.

As per datasheet TMS570LS3137-EP, Table 5-8, bit[1] of GPREG1 is not specified for any peripheral and bit[3] is reserved.

Request you to clarify the function of bit[1] and bit[3] of GPREG1 in TMS570LS3137-EP.

Thanks,

Shihab.

  • Shihab,
I suspect that the TRM is correct. Let me check with the commercial team to confirm.
The EP datasheet does need to be updated. I will get this into a queue to be updated, but will take some time.

    Wade
  • Hello Wade,

Whether the LOW EMI buffer feature help in impedance matching of the trace connecting DSP and slave IC without using external termination resistor?

The datasheet do not state the concept of LOW EMI Buffer clearly.

Do you have any whitepaper which talks about it?

Whether the IBIS model can be used to simulate the LOW EMI mode?

    Thanks,

    Shihab.

  • Shihab,
I am still awaiting confirmation on correct interpretation for GPREG1 low EMI mapping.
I hope to have confirmation soon.
With respect to Low EMI documentation. There is a paragraph in the datasheet about function.
It is not for impedance matching, but used adaptive feedback to minimize overshoot.
IBIS cannot model this behavior adequately, as it is only a lookup table.
I am going to delete the other post asking same question. I will follow up with confirmation on GPREG1.
    Regards,
    Wade
