LM158: Output protection

In the current design of line driver based on the LM158QML I need to provide its output tolerate to +/- 16.5 fault voltage from receiver both in ON and in OFF state. For this was used the next solution:

But at worth case simulation I see that the voltage of OpAmp's output is very low.

If I really need these protection diodes (D7, D8)? Vcc=6Vdc and at simulation Vcc=0V.

The simulation was performed without diodes.

Hello Ilya,
You need to adhere to the abs max limits in the datasheet. The output cannot be directly shorted to V+, but if the current is limited, this is not a problem. The output can be shorted to ground as long as V+ is less than 15V. If V+ is above 15V, the current must be limited to under 40 mA.
