TPS50601-SP: Current limitation threshold

Part Number: TPS50601-SP

Hello,

I would like your support on TPS50601-SP synchronous buck regulator. According to datasheet there is an internal OVC protection (at around 6A) by cycle by cycle current limiting. My question is if there is a way (by adding some external components) to reduce this limit.

Thanks a lot

  • Hi Alexandros,

On TPS50601-SP there is an internal current limit that is typically 10A/11A on pg. 8 of datasheet that is based upon rds_on of Mosfet. Obviously one can add an external current limit via additional circuitry.
As it is a current mode control it has pulse-by pulse current limit that is inherent to any current mode control. Slope compensation on the design is not adjustable as it is internally generated.
