CCS/AFE4490: Osram SFH7050 not powering on upon connection to a customised PCB with an AFE4490 incorporated.

Part Number: AFE4490
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CC2650MODA, CC2650

Tool/software: Code Composer Studio

Hi,

I am using an AFE4490 on a customised PCB board which incorporates a CC2650MODA to obtain heart rate and SpO2 values. The sensor I am using to obtain SpO2 values is the Osram SFH7050. Upon connection of the sensor through the DB9 connector, the sensor does not seem to power on. I was wondering if the AFE4490 requires any sort of programming to allow the sensor to power on upon its connection, or could this mean an error in the hardware?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

James

  • Jerin,

I'm assigning your post to the correct applications engineer. You should receive a response soon

  • Hi James,

AFE4490 does not need any programming to turn on sensor. If your AFE is programmed correctly and your hardware is correct, the sensor should switch on automatically.
Here are few things to try.
    1) Make sure you connections are mentioned in datasheet/ EVM's user guide.
    2) Check the register setting of AFE. May be try the default setting as given in datasheet.
    3) Cock is provided

  • Hi Prabin,

    Thank you for that.

I am also having trouble with the heart_rate example project given in the ble_sdk folder. But I am having difficulty using the app and stack folders, compiling them and test it out on my CC2650. Could you please be able to explain how the app and stack folders work and how I can modify them to create a proper project that can be debugged using my CC2650 launchpad?

    Thanks,
    Jerin
  • Hi Jerin,

I am not the right person for the CC2650 projects.
I am sure the concerned person will get back to you soon with the response.
