ADS5263EVM: configuration of ads5263 with tsw 1400 capture card

Part Number: ADS5263EVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ADS5263, AFE5809

hello,

I am trying to configure ADS5263 ADC with TSW 1400 capture card ,as per the procedure given on : http://www.ti.com/lit/ug/slau344a/slau344a.pdf

1 .   while after selecting board ADS5263_2W_16b_MSBFIRST  popup comes downloading updated  firmware but it gates failed .

2.  i couldn't find the dcm led on tsw1400 broad ,which is not flashing..

please help me

  • Hi Amit,

What do you mean exactly when you say "gates failed"?
Can you please share a picture of the error and the TSW1400 LEDs before and after uploading the firmware?

    Sincerely,
    Olu
  • Hi Olu,

    thank you for replying!

Its showing "No firmware ". I tried to download firmware for ADS5263_2W_16b_msbfirst but it show downloading but after few seconds it doesn't download firmware and popup comes  "No firmware ".

     .

I n the folder of "C:\Program Files (x86)\Texas Instruments\High Speed Data Converter Pro\1400 Details\Firmware" , firmware files of ADS5263 is not available, as shown in figure below.

    Sincerely,

    Amit

  • Hi Amit,

How about in the C:\Program Files (x86)\Texas Instruments\High Speed Data Converter Pro\1400 Details\ADC files\ folder?
Can you also power cycle the board and try a different ADS5263_XX_XX.ini firmwire file to see whether you get a different result?

    Sincerely,
    Olu
  • Hi Olu,

    thanks for the reply.

I tried different options available in the "select board" section available in the top left corner of TSW1400 GUI, for every selection of ADS5263_XX_XX same result is coming as "no firmware available".

when I tried to download firmware from "Instrument options" ---> "download firmware" ----> it opens a folder for the available firmware in the pc ,which i had shown in last reply ,where it shows only .rbf files of different ADC and DAC , but their is no ADS5263_XX_XX.rbf file available.

will you provide in detailed procedure to configure ADS5263 with TSW1400 ? Please.

    Sincerely,

    Amit.

  • Hi Amit,

Regardless of what firmware you load in HSDC Pro, you shouldn't get that "no firmware available" error after connecting to the board and uploading firmware.

Just as a sanity check, can you try loading a AFE5809 ini file?

If you still cannot successfully load an ini file to the TSW1400, try uninstalling HSDC Pro and install the latest HSDC Pro GUI from here.

If after all that you still get the same error, you likely have a defective TSW1400EVM. At that point, you would have to contact your sales/purchase point to process a return/refund.

    Sincerely,

    Olu

  • Hello Olu,

Problem with "no firmware available " is solved by giving 1.8 amp of current to the TSW1400 board.

I am trying to test the " ramp test pattern" of ADS5263 on TSW1400 board,

i am giving analog sine clock input  of 6.990dbm (1.5vpp) and frequency is 80MHz and not giving any channel input to the ADS5263 board.

When i start giving clock input from the signal generator to ads5263 board all the user led's on tsw1400 board get off and fpga_Conf_done led also get off of the TSW1400 board .

Please give me suggestion, what should i do to test the ramp input test pattern. Thanking you.

    Sincerely,

    Amit

  • Hello olu ,

    last problem is solved.

now, i am giving 5MHZ clock to the ads5263 boad , USER_LED 4 and USER_LED 5 on TSW1400 board are off rest user leds are ON.

when i press "capture " , message comes as "check whether user led 2 is off " or "clock form ads evm is not received by tsw board.

what should i do now , please help me. what clock input should i give to ads5263 board .?
  • Hi Amit,

    Please apply an 80MHz signal to J31 and use the following settings;

    Also configure the ADS5263's GUI as shown below;

You should be able to complete a capture as shown above (input 5MHz signal at J14).

    Sincerely,

    Olu

  • hi olu,
    thanks for your reply,

what current should i give to the ads5263 and tsw1400 evm ?
  • Hi Amit,

Individual power supplies that can provide 2A to each board should be more than sufficient.

    Sincerely,

    Olu

  • Hi Olu,

    Thanks for your reply.

These are  some images of my setup for sine wave input of 5MHz to j14 and clk input of 80MHz to the j31 of the ADS5263 , but at the HIGH speed gui pro i am getting different output, not sine wave, please verify my setup form the images and help me on this.

why i am getting this output..?

If i would not give any input to the ADS5263 board  , at high speed gui pro software the output comes in the form of triangular wave.

    Sincerely,

    Amit

  • Hi Amit,

Your clock amplitude is too low--use +10dBm instead. Also, try to use ADC settings identical to the one I attached in my last post as an initial reference point.

    Sincerely,

    Olu
