AFE4900EVM: GUI not running

Part Number: AFE4900EVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: AFE4900, , AFE4490

Hi team,

My customer has the following issue with the GUI, please see below his inquiry:

First of all, I followed the installation steps described in the developer's guide – sbau296 for the AFE4900 Evaluation Module.

After completing the software installation I have installed the USB drivers - the PC recognizes the COM port as AFE44xx EVM, and the software did work once.
The first issue started when I tried to open the software for the second time, the following error message popped up:

After clicking OK, the next error message pops up:

I have tried to reinstall the software but the same error messages still pop up.

I have also tried to update my .NET framework as written in NI forum for the second error message, but the .NET is up to date.

Because the software worked once I decided to try it on another laptop.

The second issue is that in the other laptop after the software started to work properly, it did not recognize either one of the two AFE4900EVM we have, even though the PC does recognize the COM port as AFE44xx EVM.

A device communication error pops up in this case, as shown in figure 36 of the developer's guide:

If I click on 'Continue in Simulation', the software does start in simulation mode, we do not encounter the first issue on the other laptop.

I hope we could quickly resolve both issues and start working and evaluating the AFE4900.

Thanks in advance.

Respectfully Yours,

Shai

  • Hi Shai,

This error is due to missing .NET framework.
Please refer to section 9.5 of the user guide for ways to resolve this.

  • Hello Prabin,
I accidentally clicked "resolved my issue" sorry for that.
In fact, my customer did not manage to solve this problem, they even checked more computers with a win10 operating system and they get the same error message. Do you familiar the problem on Win10? there is another workaround?
Second thing, there are any migration guides from AFE4490 to AFE4900 in terms of registers.
Their working approach is to communicate through SPI and once they have a FIFO_RDY flag on they want to read the data.

    Thanks in advance

  • Hi Shai,

Here is a post regarding USB driver installation in windows 10 PC.

However the issue looks like due to missing .NET framework. Can your customer verify that they have correct version of the framework.

  • Prabin,

the customer has managed to overcome this issue using their IT guys,

They discovered that there was probably a program blocked access to .NET framework 3.5 for unknown software such as the EVM software.

We really appreciate your support, Many Thanks.

    regards,

    Shai
