Hi,
Is it a problem if I have a 12V drop over the nFAULT line on the DRV8841 when there is no fault? The circuit is a 12V supply, then a 10kOhm resistor, an optocoupler (which is activated when nFAULT is pulled low by the DRV8841), then the nFAULT pin(containing a switch leading to GND ). So when nFAULT is pulled low, there's a ~1mA current into the pin, and if it is high, there's a 12V drop.
Thanks for the help!
Sam
Hi Sam,
Unfortunately the output is not rated for that kind of a voltage. If you do so, the output structure will become polarized and start conducting through a protection block which should not be active. The pin is rated to as high as 5V logic, so you will need some kind of level shifter block in between the device and your controller.

Hi Jose,
Ok, thanks for the answer.
